HIGHWAY ENGINEER

On behalf of our client, we are looking the Highway Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the geometric design verification, pavement engineering, and technical supervision of all road and asphalt works ensuring the road infrastructure is constructed to design, ride quality, and durability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify highway geometric design (horizontal/vertical alignment, cross-sections, super-elevation, sight distances).
• Supervise and validate pavement works: subgrade preparation, sub-base, base course, prime/tack coats, asphalt binder, and wearing course.
• Oversee asphalt plant operations, mix designs (Marshall / Superpave), laying temperatures, compaction, and density testing.
• Supervise drainage works, kerbs, shoulders, road markings, and road furniture installation.
• Review and approve setting-out data, levels, and as-built surveys for road sections.
• Ensure compliance with TANROADS Pavement & Materials Design Manual, AASHTO, and contract specifications.
• Coordinate with the QA/QC team on materials testing (CBR, MDD/OMC, gradation, bitumen content, ITS, etc.).
• Manage interfaces with the Structural Engineer at bridge approaches, transitions, and drainage structures.
• Investigate pavement defects/non-conformances and recommend remedial works.
• Prepare highway-related technical submittals, RFIs, progress reports, and as-built documents.

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Highway Engineering or a related field
• Registered by ERB as a Professional Engineer mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in highway design and/or construction supervision, with proven experience on asphalt road projects.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO, TANROADS Standard Specifications, Pavement & Materials Design Manual, and MoWT guidelines.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (or equivalent), and familiarity with pavement design software (e.g. KENPAVE, AASHTOWare).
