Job Purpose:
The Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sales operations, supervising the Key Account Sales Executive team, and developing and implementing sales strategies to drive listing and revenue growth. The role focuses on building strong relationships with distributors and key clients, enhancing team performance, and ensuring alignment with the company’s business objectives, particularly in the wine and spirits category.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies and action plans to achieve business goals in the alcoholic beverages sector.
- Monitor market trends and adjust sales strategies to capitalize on new opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Set sales targets for the team and ensure achievement of goals.
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Supervise, coach, and mentor the Key Account Sales Executive team to drive individual and team performance.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and development plans.
- Lead by example in building customer relationships and closing high-value deals.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture that promotes professional growth and accountability.
- Key Account Management:
- Oversee the management of key accounts, providing guidance and support to the Key Account Sales Executives.
- Establish long-term relationships with distributor and key clients to ensure top-tier service delivery.
- Resolve escalated client issues and work to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Sales Operations & Forecasting:
- Monitor sales performance metrics and KPIs to track team progress, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
- Prepare and present accurate sales forecasts, reports, and analysis to senior management.
- Oversee the execution of promotions, pricing strategies, and product launches.
- Business Development:
- Identify and explore new business opportunities in the alcoholic beverages market, including wine and spirits.
- Expand the company’s customer base by acquiring new accounts and fostering relationships with distributors, retailers, and wholesalers.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to drive effective campaigns and improve product visibility.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments such as marketing, finance, and supply chain to ensure smooth sales operations and resolve bottlenecks.
- Provide input to product development teams based on market feedback and customer demands.
- Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the FMCG industry, particularly in alcoholic beverages.
- Proven track record of leading sales teams and achieving/exceeding sales targets.
- Experience managing key accounts and developing strong client relationships.
- Expertise in the wine and spirits segment is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and sales analytical tools.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in sales management, leadership, or related fields would be advantageous.
